Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst will be out to complete a stunning unique treble on Super Sunday following their incredible straight sets victory over Larissa/Talita at the Swatch World Tour Finals in Toronto on Saturday.

We’re beginning to run out of superlatives to describe these German superstars who are eyeing gold on Center Court at Polson Pier to add to their Olympic and European titles they have pocketed this season.

Sunday’s clash for the top place on the podium will be against Swiss sensations Heidrich/Zumkehr – the team they defeated in the A1 Major Klagenfurt.

But the girls from Switzerland have defeated them in the tournament already! So it promises to be a fantastic final!

“We know Nadine and Jo very well, we’ve played against each other and practiced with them a number of times and it will definitely be tough,” Laura told us.

“It’s unbelievable that they have come out here so strong at this tournament and it’s really fun playing with Nadine – I will definitely miss her on tour.”

The Germans gained revenge for their defeat in the final of the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in Fort Lauderdale last year when Larissa/Talita triumphed.

But now Laura and Kira will step on to the sand for one last time on Super Sunday with the chance to put a cherry on top of their sensational season.

“We’ll see,” Laura smiled when asked if they could win gold again. “We have to do our best. It’s good that we have recovery time until tomorrow when we can fight for one last time this season!”

So now we know the line-ups for the women’s medal matches! Larissa/Talita and Forrer/Vergé-Dépré will fight for the right for bronze at 2.45pm today while tomorrow’s grand finale will kick off at 12.15pm.

Catch all the action on our website with a live stream, live ticker and on social media! Congratulations girls and good luck!
