The excitement is building ahead of the eagerly anticipated season finale to the 2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour campaign – especially when we can exclusively reveal the news of who is playing who in the pool play!

In just under a week the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals kick off in Toronto as the world’s elite go head-to-head for the ultimate honor in the sport.

On Tuesday morning, our meticulous sports department hid themselves away in a dark room to set the seeding and concoct the draw for the all-important groups for the #TorontoFinals.

And this is what they have come up with – 12 top teams per gender, split into four pools containing three teams… all jam-packed with Olympic heroes going hell for leather for one last shot at glory this year.

Read it and weep!

Men:

Pool A: Alison/Bruno (1), Virgen/Ontiveros (8), Ranghieri/Carambula (9)
Pool B: Samoilovs/Smedins (2), Brouwer/Meeuwsen (7), Fijalek/Prudel (10)
Pool C: Lucena/Dalhausser (3), Losiak/Kantor (6), Binstock/Schachter (12)
Pool D: Saxton/Schalk (4), Pedro Solberg/Evandro (5), Hyden/Bourne (11)

Women:

Pool A: Walsh Jennings/Ross (1), Forrer/Vergé-Dépré (8), Bawden/Clancy (9)
Pool B: Ludwig/Walkenhorst (2), Heidrich/Zumkehr (7), Gallay/Klug (10)
Pool C: Larissa/Talita (3), Liliana/Elsa (6), Broder/Valjas (11)
Pool D: Canada 1 (4), Laboureur/Sude (5), Menegatti/Giombini (12)

Of course the first game of the pool play doesn’t get under way until Wednesday 14th but the first match of the tournament takes place the day before in a dramatic country quota clash. See ‘Canada 1’ in Pool D of the women’s division? Well that place in the main draw will be taken by either Pavan/Humana-Parades or Bansley/Wilkerson. It’s a long story – so click here to find out what that’s all about.

We’ll preview the groups over the next few days but just look at some of those mouthwatering matches - click here for the full rundown of all the fixtures at the #TorontoFinals.

We’ve got less than one week to go now…bring it on!
