Team: Broder/Valjas

Nation: Canada

2015/16 FIVB World Tour ranking points: 2,140 – qualified as wildcards

2016 medals: 0

Torontonian Kristina Valjas and teammate Jamie Broder are Canadian women’s longest-serving partnership having played together since 2011/12.

The home favorites won their first gold medal at the Fuzhou Open last year but this summer’s wildcards reserved their best performance of the season with a last-16 finish at the Olympics in Rio – where they lost to fellow Canadians Pavan/Bansley.

The pair also took part in last summer’s Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in Fort Lauderdale - but can they make home advantage count here at Polson Pier?!

Fun fact! The team built-up their Olympic qualification points early in the 2015 season with three top four finishes in the first five tournaments.
