Flying Dutchmen ready to pounce at Polson Pier
Team: Brouwer/Meeuwsen
Nation: Netherlands
2015/16 FIVB World Tour ranking points: 4,190 – qualified as wildcards
2016 medals: 5 (Two silver, three bronze)
If there’s one team you can bank on finishing in the top 10 then it’s reliable Dutch duo Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen.
In the 10 tournaments in which they competed in 2016 the beach boys from The Hague finished in the top 10 every time. How’s that for consistency? The highlight of their season so far has to be the bronze medal at the Olympics but the 2013 World Champions also added two silvers to their collection including at the smart Major Hamburg in June.
In last year’s competition in Fort Lauderdale the pair were denied a medal in the bronze medal match by Pedro Solberg/Evandro…can they secure a place on the podium at Polson Pier?
Fun fact! It’s been over a year since the duo won gold. The last time the pair secured a first place on the podium came at the 2015 Poreč Major.
