Eight matches you can’t miss on day one of the main draw
Olympic gold medal winners Alison/Bruno are the star attractions at Polson Pier on Wednesday as the main draw of the Swatch World Tour Finals flies into action.
What’s more there’s three matches featuring Canadian teams as the host country’s heroes look to wow the crowd on Center Court.

Why? A1 Major Klagenfurt champs Samoilovs/Smedins from Latvia will be out to put their disappointing Olympics behind them but it won’t be easy against the talented Poles.

Why? Big serving Brazilian Evandro is sure to entertain the crowd but can he and Pedro Solberg defeat the Americans?

Why? Brazilians Larissa/Talita won gold at the Swatch World Tour Finals last year in Fort Lauderdale. They begin their defense of their title against Canadian hopefuls Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas.

Why? These teams finished second and fourth at the A1 Major Klagenfurt before Rio so a hard-fought and entertaining game is guaranteed! The Swiss beat the Argentines in the semifinals of that competition – will the South Americans get revenge?

Why? After their epic country quota win over Pavan/Humana-Paredes, the number one seeded Canadian women’s team will be aiming to take that confidence into this game against the Italians.

Why? No team has travelled further to get here than Bawden/Clancy of Australia. Will their trip get off to the perfect start against the Swiss stars?

Why? It’s Olympic gold medalists versus the entertainers! It’s a repeat of a pool play match from the Copacabana and everyone will be expecting another win for the all-conquering Brazilians. Mr Skyball and the Net Patroller know they need to be on their game on Center Court to get a result.

Why? And last but by no means least, it’s Canada versus USA to wrap up Wednesday’s action! Lucena/Dalhausser claimed silver 12 months ago but their first match is a tricky test against home favorites Binstock/Schachter.
