How’s this for a women’s semifinal line-up?!

We don’t know where to start! Whether we should begin with the fact there will be two Swiss teams battling out for a place in the final of the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals – or the fact the other semi is between the last year’s champions and this year’s Olympic gold medalists!

Yes, you heard that right! It’s an all-Swiss semi as A1 Major Klagenfurt runners-up Heidrich/Zumkehr face fellow Swiss stars Forrer/Vergé-Dépré.

Heidrich/Zumkehr rubber-stamped their pass to the semifinal with a convincing straight sets victory over Australia’s Bawden/Clancy.

It was the same for Forrer/Vergé-Dépré, though, as they blitzed German duo Laboureur/Sude also in two sets.

Last year’s winners in Fort Lauderdale, Larissa/Talita, made light work of South American neighbors Gallay/Klug of Argentina to book their place in the final four.

And the Brazilians face a lip-smacking meeting with Ludwig/Walkenhorst after the Germans edged a thrilling quarterfinal against Americans April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings. Laura and Kira took the first set but then lost the second set as the Olympic bronze medalists battled back. In a deciding final set watched by a packed crowd as the sun began to set on the Center Court, Ludwig/Walkenhorst secured their place in the semifinals with a breathtaking series of shots.

Both matches take place on Saturday, as does the bronze medal match. And, if you haven’t heard, the gold medal game will now take place on Super Sunday! Click here for more details!
