Super Sunday on social media

The last day of the #TorontoFinals through the eyes of the players

Posing for a selfie on the podium? Hell yeah!Posing for a selfie on the podium? Hell yeah!

Can you believe it? If you were, like us, still at Polson Pier – you’d be sad right now. Because the Center Court is being taken down and we’re packing up and getting ready to say au revoir.

But hang on one minute! Not so fast! We’ve still got to tell you about the thrills and spills of this truly magnificent tournament which closed the book on yet another epic season of beach volleyball.

And what better way to do it than through the eyes of the athletes?!

They’ve been busy digging and diving on the sand and posting and posing on social media this week – and today was no exception as the final matches of the season took center stage on the banks of Lake Ontario. First up, here’s a topless Alison/Bruno thanking their fans (in Portuguese) in the wake of their brilliant victory in the final against Pedro Solberg/Evandro.

Talking of champions, here’s Laura and Kira who secured a remarkable quadruple of Olympic, European, National and Swatch World Tour Finals gold. The caption says it all: “What winners look like.”

During the day we had Swiss star Anouk Verge-Depre takeover our snapchat channel (@SwatchMajors, by the way) to give a special insight behind-the-scenes on Super Sunday. See this photo?

Together with Isabelle Forrer, Anouk claimed bronze this week. And they’re VERY happy with their performance!

What an amazing finish of our epic season!!! Beating one of the best teams in the world to win bronze at the #TorontoFinals... unbelievable! Thank you @anoukvergedepre for fighting like a hero this week! I guess we've earned a decent vacation now 😄 Thanks to everybody at home or a little further away supporting and thinking of us 👍🏻 #SwatchMajorSeries #TeamIsaAnouk #Nike #FitnessIsland #Bronze #Happythird #homebound

Finally, a word on the Canadians, and in particular Ben Saxton. He’s been growing a beard for a few months now – and told us he had planned to shave it off come Halloween. Instead, pressured by raising money for charity, Ben was faced with the scenario of shaving off his facial hair ON THE COURT! Here’s the full video – see the help from teammate Chaim?! Love it!

And this – and look away now those in a nervous disposition – was the result! We did warn you!

We’d like to thank the players for their efforts on and off the court and for keeping us entertained on social media throughout the week!
