A week ago we rocked up at Polson Pier and were preparing for the greatest season finale beach volleyball has ever seen.

And if you’ve been paying close attention to our website and social media channels over the past six days we think you’ll agree that it has been nothing short of sensational.

If there was any need for proof, you only had to take a look around at the thousands of smiling faces on Center Court on Super Sunday to realize how much fun was had by us all – the fans, the players, the volunteers and every-amazing-body that helped make the Swatch World Tour Finals a massive success.

After 48 action-packed matches two familiar teams were crowned our Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Final champions of 2016.

Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst capped their simply awesome season with another gold medal to add to their national, European and Olympic triumphs, while Alison Cerutti and Oscar Bruno Schmidt – last year’s champs in Fort Lauderdale – also made it a year to remember after winning on the Copacabana – by storming to success in Toronto without dropping a set.

They were the stars that stole the show but it was the Canadian people and beach fans that made us most welcome. We’ve been blown away by their friendliness and hospitality. After 16 long years without an international beach volleyball tournament Toronto certainly made up for lost time with a show to be proud of.

So thank you Toronto, thank you Canada – thanks for the memories and we hope to see you soon!

Merci beaucoup et au revoir!
