Team: Laboureur/Sude

Nation: Germany

2015/16 World Tour ranking position: 3

2015/16 World Tour ranking points: 5,440

2016 medals: 3 (One gold, one silver, one bronze)

Making a late surge up the ranking table with a number of stunning performances, Julia Sude and Chantal Laboureur saw off the challenge of fellow German teams Borger/Büthe and Holtwick/Semmler to earn a spot in Toronto.

The pair amassed 1,320 points in their last five tournaments on the FIVB World Tour, which included a first-ever gold medal together at the Poreč Major.

They followed that up with a quarterfinal place in Gstaad, a last-16 finish at the A1 Major Klagenfurt before securing a bronze medal at the Long Beach Grand Slam.

Fun fact! The team were the first qualifiers in the history of the Swatch Major Series to win a gold medal following their success at the Poreč Major.

Re-live Chantal and Julia's famous Poreč Major victory back in June.
