Canadian hopes in Toronto will also rest upon the shoulders of Ontario duo Josh Binstock and Sam Schachter on home sand.

The pair joined countrymen Saxton/Schalk in appearing at the Olympics in Rio and prepared for the Finals with a solid ninth place at the Long Beach Grand Slam.

The highlight of their 2016 campaign was the silver medal captured at the Cincinnati Open in May – but, like Saxton/Schalk they will be aiming to wow the home crowds at the tournament on their doorstep.

Fun fact! The duo successfully qualified for the Olympics at the third attempt. They competed twice in the Continental Cup before securing their spot in Rio following a play-off victory over Canadian rivals Pedlow/O’Gorman.
