Americans show true grit on the sand to fightback and beat Brazil
As Aleksandrs Samoilovs said in an interview earlier today it’s the best of the best here at Polson Pier for the Swatch World Tour Finals.
And his words certainly rang true after Americans Tri Bourne and John Hyden fought back to slay Pedro Solberg/Evandro on Center Court.
Last year’s Brazilian bronze medalists came to Toronto off the back of a stunning success at the Long Beach Grand Slam but despite winning the first set they couldn’t not deny Hyden/Bourne a deserved success in front of the Toronto skyline.
All three sets were tight affairs but the Americans got over the line in the final set to record a victory and send a message out that although they are seeded 12th they are to be reckoned with on the sand.
There was a repeat of an A1 Major Klagenfurt semifinal in the first match of the tournament on Court 2 and the result was the same as it was beside the Wörthersee as Swiss stars Heidrich/Zumkehr beat Gallay/Klug of Argentina in straight sets.
Remember you can watch all the drama unfold direct from your laptop so load up our live stream and sit back and watch the world’s best players battle it out in Toronto!
