Despite the roars of the crowd on Center Court, Canadian hopes of cheering on a victory will have to wait a little longer after Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk lost their opening match of the Swatch World Tour Finals on home sand.

The pair have high hopes of going all the way at their home tournament but found life tough against yesterday’s American heroes John Hyden and Tri Bourne. Saxton/Schalk had no answer, going down 21-17, 21-17. The win for Hyden/Bourne booked them a place in the quarterfinals. Well played boys!

In the Pool A clash on Court 2 at the same time, Italians Alex Ranghieri and Adrian Carambula bounced back from their defeat to Olympic champs Alison/Bruno yesterday by beating Ontiveros/Virgen in a tough match that saw the Mexicans win 45 points but still land up on the losing side. Ouch!

Canadian beach fans have one final match to get excited for at 5.30pm this evening when Bansley/Wilkerson take on Germans Laboureur/Sude. You can watch it on our live stream so remember to check it out!
