What the stars had to say online after another exciting day’s play
It was a frantic Friday on the sand at Polson Pier as the best men and women in the world went toe-to-toe for supremacy at the Swatch World Tour Finals in Toronto. In the women’s tournament the hopes and dreams of a weekend in the sun became clearer with the knockout matches taking center stage. Brazil’s Larissa/Talita were psyched after they booked a semifinal meeting with Ludwig/Walkenhorst.
Semifinal !!! #underarmour #timepetrobras #tampico #radix #vult #exercitobrasileiro

It wasn’t such a happy time for Spain’s Liliana/Elsa who fell to a defeat to Australia’s Bawden/Clancy.
Finished in 9th palace at the #Torontofinals! Sad we didn't make it farther but happy we can say we are on VACATION! For the men it was a different story as they fought for an automatic place in the quarterfinals. That was something Latvians Samoilovs/Smedins nailed after they won their second game of the tournament. “Success is guaranteed,” they wrote on Twitter. “We win the group so we are in the quarterfinals.”
Šis panākums garantē 1.v. grupā, līdz ar to esam #TorontoFinals 1/4finālā, kur pretinieku uzzināsim pēc 1/8fināliem. https://t.co/QGCBW6WKiQ
Polish duo Kantor/Losiak were also grinning from ear to ear after securing a second successive victory – and they’re looking forward to their last eight clash. “We have it! First place in the group!” they said on Twitter. “We win 2-0 and tomorrow we play the winners of the match Schalk/Saxton vs Brouwer/Meeuwsen.”
Mamy to - pierwsze miejsce w grupie ! Wygrywamy 2:0 i jutro zagramy ze zwycięzcami z meczu Schalk/Saxton vs Brouwer/Meeuwsen. #KLBVT
Meanwhile if you’ve been watching on the live stream or been inside the Center Court you might have noticed the big heads of Josh Binstock and Sam Schachter! No, not their actual heads, but these cardboard cutouts! Here’s the in-the-flesh Josh pictured with two of the bigger versions!
Finally we reserve our last post for a Tweet of our own. Taken from our snapchat channel @SwatchMajors (which you really must start following), it's highlights the incredible friendship and sportswomenship between our athletes, as April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings joke around with Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst just minutes after the two teams clashed in the quarterfinals. Just brilliant!
Love or hate after the showdown between @LauraundKira & @kerrileewalsh/@AprilRossBeach? 😉 #torontofinals https://t.co/KaBM4n15Pt
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the athletes’ social media accounts and bring you their thoughts direct from their smartphones!
